The Downtown Austin Alliance (DAA) hosted Austin’s Birthday Bash and Grand Reopening of Republic Square in August of 2018. A free, family-friendly celebration that connected people through music, culture and creativity — with a historical work of art revealed at the event and showcasing the story of Austin’s birth.

The Austin’s Birthday Bash logo is a clean and timeless wordmark for the newly established annual event. A leaf icon gives homage to the Auction Oaks where the first lots of the city of Austin were auctioned. The tagline “Music + Culture + Creativity” drives home the goal of the event — bringing together the creativity of Austin’s many cultures.

The formal stacked format of the mark is juxtaposed by the colorful background it is placed on. The blocks of color striped in this manner symbolize Austin’s many cultures coming together in a bright and festive color palette. The 4 colors also symbolize the 4 phases of the park’s history — as Hamilton Park, Guadalupe Park, Republic Square, and The Future. The event’s overall visual presence is bright, cheerful and celebratory — whether graphic brand elements are used on-site, in print, digital or social media.
